Preston City Council's Guild Co-operative Enterprise Club network event, 'Funding for Co-operatives', is to be held Wednesday 20 March 2013, 4.30pm - 7.30pm in the Town Hall, Preston. It's a chance for potential and existing coops to find out more about types of funding available, including an alternative funding model.
Gareth Nash from Co-operative Mutual Solutions will be talking about Community Shares. Gareth has over 20 years experience of co-operative, social enterprise development and financing having managed leading organisations in this field. Gareth will be talking about how Community Share offers are proving a vital lifeline for communities across the country, from residents wanting to save their local pub, to fans aiming to take ownership of their football club or local people intending to produce their own renewable energy together.
We will also joined by Lynn Tolmon from Homebaked. Lynn will be discussing 'Crowdfunding' as an alternative method of raising finance for a business, a project or idea. Crowdfunding has become a powerful new way to raise money without financing or direct investors. It works by attracting a 'crowd' of people with each taking a small stake by contributing towards a funding target.
Ann Marie Wrigley, Co-operatives North West will be facilitating a session on Principle 6 Networking (Co-operation amongst Co-operatives).
There's also an opportunity to meet with a Co-operative Advisor to discuss any specific co-operative needs. If you wish to book a business advice session, please contact Barbara Davidson at Co-operatives North West
